Non-Profit Marketing Funding for Festivals and Cultural Events
Festivals and other special events provide enrichment and enjoyment to those who call Charlottesville and Albemarle County home, as well as the many thousands we welcome yearly who travel to this area to enjoy our eclectic mix of food, music, the arts, and more! The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau (CACVB) is committed to partnering with community-based non-profit organizations that help foster festival activity by reaching those living out-of-area who might be inspired tovisit the greater Charlottesville area to enjoy one or more of the arts and cultural offerings throughout the year.
The CACVB is providing marketing funding in fiscal year 2018 (July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018) to support marketing and advertising initiatives that have the potential to attract out-of-area visitors to these festivals and events. Applicant non-profit organizations seeking festival marketing funding will use this process to provide information to the CACVB about a specific festival and/or cultural event.
Eligibility requirements do not allow for an applicant organization that is already receiving funding under a CACVB-sponsored program to receive additional funding in the same fiscal year. However, for non-profit organizations that have already been notified that they have been approved for funding under the Sponsorship Grant Program for the year beginning July 1, 2016, these organizations may apply for funding under this program for fiscal year 2018, which begins July 1, 2017.
Please note that a festival, as defined under CACVB Policy, is an event that will, "take place over a one to ten-day period that spans over two weekends (a maximum of 10 days)." Applicants are strongly encouraged to thoroughly read this policy statement and application requirements.
If, after reading through the following documents, you believe that your non-profit organization qualifies to be considered, then you are encouraged to apply. The deadline for submitting completed applications is 5:00 p.m.,Monday, August 1, 2016. A press release was issued to the local media on July 1, 2016, and information about this program will be further disseminated to the general public by the CACVB.
The CACVB will host an information orientation to meet with prospective applicants on July 7, 2016 at City Space, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. This process will allow for interested organizations to learn more and to have their questions answered prior to submitting applications under this program.
