      <title>Brand New "Tom Tom Founders Festival" To Launch On April 13</title>
      <link>http://www.visitcharlottesville.org/articles/index.cfm?action=view&amp;articleid=49</link>
      <description>BRAND NEW “TOM TOM FOUNDERS FESTIVAL” TO LAUNCH ON APRIL 13 The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau is among the presenting sponsors&#xD;
Charlottesville, April 5, 2012 – The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to announce its sponsorship support for the 2012 Tom Tom Founders Festival (TTFF), a new festival to be launched on Founders Day, April 13th at the McGuffey Arts Center, 201 2nd Street Northwest in Charlottesville’s downtown. The Opening Gala at the McGuffey Arts Center begins at 5:30 p.m.&#xD;
And, it is by no coincidence that the kick-off for this new festival coincides with Thomas Jefferson’s 269th birthday, which is celebrated the same day, April 13.&#xD;
The Tom Tom Founders Festival is a celebration of original music, public art and entrepreneurial innovation. TTFF curates a month of creative activity throughout downtown Charlottesville, and culminates in a festival weekend, May 11, 12 &amp; 13. “Tom Tom is about the future of the community, and establishing Charlottesville as a creative hub for innovative ideas, artists, &amp; businesses”, says Paul Beyer, director of the event.&#xD;
Tom Tom will undoubtedly be very attractive to locals and tourists alike, with a long line-up of over 50 musical acts of all styles, including Josh Ritter, The Walkmen, and Here We Go Magic.&#xD;
“There is no question as to the relevance of the Tom Tom Founders Festival,” said Kurt Burkhart, Executive Director of the CACVB; “The Charlottesville area, with its numerous musical venues, trendy art galleries, and innovative businesses, has such a cultural vitality, and this is precisely what Tom Tom will celebrate. We are thrilled to sponsor such a creative event and cannot wait to be part of this exciting new festival, which will certainly bring in hundreds of out-of-town visitors.”&#xD;
Charlottesville, Virginia is quickly becoming Virginia’s premier destination for signature events. “Already, the Virginia Festival of the Book, Look3 Festival of the Photograph, and the Virginia Film Festival bring tens of thousands of festival goers annually to Charlottesville,” said Burkhart, “and we believe this year’s inaugural Tom Tom Founders Festival will further complement the stellar lineup of festivals this area already offers.”&#xD;
Other sponsors for the 2012 Tom Tom Founders Festival include the New Belgium Brewing Company and the Dreamfield Foundation. More information about the 2012 Tom Tom Founders Festival can be found at http://www.tomtomfest.com/.&#xD;
About the CACVB&#xD;
In addition to providing a wealth of information on the area to individual visitors, the CACVB assists tour operators, meeting planners, reunions and other groups to find attractions, restaurants, hotels, and other visitor related businesses. Its mission is “to enhance the economic prosperity of City and County by promoting, selling and marketing the City of Charlottesville and County of Albemarle, as a destination, in pursuit of the meetings and tourism markets.”</description>
