In collaboration wtih the UVa University of Virginia Singers and the Charlottesville and University Symphony Orchestra, the Oratorio Society of Virginia presents Prokofiev's Alexander Nevsky and Borodin's Polovtsian Dances. Originally composed as a score for a Russian film of the same name about the Teutonic Knights of the Roman Empire, Alexander Nevsky was later rearranged by Prokofiev as a cantata. Polovtsian Dances are choral selections from Borodin’s famous 19th century opera Prince Igor. Both of these Russian choral masterpieces, combined with Oratorio’s collaboration with the superb talent of the University Singers and the CUSO, are sure to provide for an exceptional and emotive performance.
