Black History Month 2013 Creating and Defining the African-American Community Location for this event is Newcomb Hall Ballroom. Keynote Address Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery This year's keynote address from the Reverend Doctor Joseph E. Lowery, who will speak about his experiences in the Civil Rights Movement and social justice issues today. The evening will also include performances by three outstanding choirs: Black Voices Gospel Choir (University of Virginia), Black Awakening Gospel Choir (Virginia Commonwealth University), and the Virginia State University Gospel Chorale.
