St. Thomas' Episcopal Church

Orange, VA


Built in 1833-34, St. Thomas' was copied after Jefferson's only known (and now demolished) ecclesiastical work. Robert E. Lee and other Confederates worshipped here the winter of 1863-64. Noted for its stained glass windows, including one by Tiffany.
