Wintergreen's Stoney Creek village, located in the valley some 3,000 feet below the mountain, offers a myriad of activities including championship golf, outdoor tennis, horseback riding, road biking, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and swimming. The Rodes Farm Equestrian Center is open March through November from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (closed on Wednesdays). Tennis: Four clay courts at Stoney Creek available mid-April through Thanksgiving. Lessons and ball machine are available when reserved in advance. All guests wishing to use the courts are required to check in at the Stoney Creek Golf Pro shop, located below The Stoney Creek Bar & Grill. Wintergreen Resort is home to over 30 miles of marked hiking trails; some meander through the valley of Stoney Creek while others adjoin the famous Appalachian trail. Designed by world-renowned Rees Jones, this 27-hole/par 72 course plays through streams and over Lake Monocan while the surrounding mountains provide a dramatic backdrop.
