Fall Festivals

Autumn is arguably the best time of year in the Charlottesville area. There is always a multitude of festivals and events to enjoy during the colorful fall season. From music and local beverages to block parties and horse races, there is something for everyone!

The Virginia Film Festival is a staple event in Charlottesville! This year will feature some of the most highly anticipated titles in the film world while also showing off the talents of rising stars in the industry. Films will include a carefully-curated selection of classics, documentaries, outstanding foreign films and more - all combining to offer a thought-provoking creative window on some of the most important issues in our world today. Music lovers will not want to miss the 17th season of the Charlottesville Chamber Music Festival, which runs from September 8 - 22. This festival presents the music of classical composers Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven and many others, played by a diverse group of internationally-acclaimed musicians. Concerts will be played at two of Charlottesville's most historic venues - The Paramount Theater on the Downtown Mall and Old Cabell Hall at The University of Virginia. On September 17, the Charlottesville Pride Community Network will present the 5th annual Cville Pride Festival in Lee Park. The festival aims to create a vibrant, visible and unified LGBTQ community presence in the Charlottesville area. Highlights will include music, dancing, a beer garden, food trucks and much more. Tom Tom Founders Festivals returns this fall with a free two-day event from September 23 - 24. The Fall Block Party, Tomtoberfest will take place at Lee Park in downtown Charlottesville. This event brings great bands, public art, a dozen local food trucks and a giant New Belgium beer garden. The Block Party also celebrates innovators, artists, and community leaders who create great things in Charlottesville by featuring their profiles on lamppost banners across the Downtown Mall. The annual Foxfield Fall Races will take place on Sunday, September 25. This iconic Charlottesville event kicks off with Jack Russell Terrier races, followed by horse races in the afternoon. Starr Hill Oktoberfest is back at Starr Hill Brewery on October 1. The brewery will be transformed into a German Brauhaus, complete with a Beer Hall and an Oktoberfest tent on the patio. High end fine art and craftwork returns to Crozet during the Crozet Fall Arts and Crafts Festival on the weekend of October 8 - 9. Over 100 handcrafters and makers will bring their original work to display and sell at beautiful Claudius Crozet Park. The 7th annual Top of the Hops Beer Festival will take place on November 5th at Spring Pavilion. Tickets include a commemorative sampling glass and two-ounce samples of over 150 world class craft beers. There will be music, food, Brew University, and new this year - a silent disco.
