The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau announced today that tourism generated $449.3 million in direct visitor spending, supported over 4,800 jobs and generated $15.9 million in taxes for Charlottesville and Albemarle County in 2010. The figures represent a 6.6% increase in tax revenue over 2009 and point to the importance of tourism to the local economy.
