This creamery was founded by the Smith Family, long-established dairy farmers in Fauquier County. Their ice cream is made with milk from the family farm, slow churned in Remington and all ingredients are local whenever possible. Dairy-free sorbets and sugar-free ice cream are also available.

Take It Away

Operating in Charlottesville since 1992, Take It Away responds to community needs by donating to University of Virginia philanthropy projects and service outreach. When you visit, give your order then enjoy some chips while waiting for your sandwich of natural meats and cheeses to be assembled. Be sure to try their proprietary House Dressing; you can even buy a jar to take home.

The Milkman’s Bar

The Milkman’s Bar, led by mixologist River Hawkins, pays homage to the classic 1950s and 1960s drugstore soda fountains. During a visit, patrons can enjoy a warm atmosphere and imaginative cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages.
