ABOUT

“Water: The Agony & Ecstasy of the Black Experience”
A multi-medium group exhibition curated by The Charlottesville Black Arts Collective at McGuffey Art
Center. For the months of February and March 2021 (Feb 3 - Mar 28, 2021), “ Water:
The Agony and Ecstasy of the Black Experience, ” a multi-medium group exhibition featuring the work of
25 Black artists from the state of Virginia, will be on display on all floors of the McGuffey Art Center.
Curated by The Charlottesville Black Arts Collective, this multimedia exhibition seeks to take viewers
through a journey, using water as a metaphor of the Black experience. Artists featured in this exhibition
were asked to deliver work exploring the interconnection of water and Black life, based on prose written
by writer and photographer, Kori Price. Visit mcguffeyartcenter.com for more information and hours.
