Albemarle Ballet Theatre's 15th Spring Dance Gala

Albemarle Ballet Theatre and the Studio for the Performing Arts present their 15th Spring Dance Gala at PVCC’s Dickinson Theatre on Saturday May 11th at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.

The Gala opens with excerpts from Études, a one-act ballet by choreographer Harald Lander set to music by Carl Czerny. Newly restaged with fresh choreography by Veronica Piller and performed by ABT’s advanced students, this ballet is a dazzling demonstration of a classical ballet class that is sure to thrill balletomanes!

A special feature of the show is (dis)CONNECTED, a student developed and choreographed contemporary piece about technology and its effect on relationships.

The featured full length ballet, The Ugly Duckling, is a heartwarming and hilarious rendition of the classic tale. Opulent handmade costumes, a uniquely constructed score, beautiful swans showing excerpts from Swan Lake, and evil vultures reminiscent of the villainous witches from Hocus Pocus bring this original ballet to life! This 2 hour show is entertaining and diverse for every age and type of dance lover!
