FLOW: The 2018 Rivanna River Art Festival is Saturday, September 29th from 11:00 - 4:00!
Chroma Projects has partnered with the Rivanna Conservation Alliance, the Lewis and Clark Exploratory Center. the McGuffey Art Center, and the Rivanna River Company to present this inspiring day of art and fun on the river bank at Darden Towe Park.
FLOW 2018 will feature over 50 visual and performing artists and musicians celebrating and interpreting the river. Visitors to the event encounter their diverse gifts of creativity, tucked into natural wooded grottoes and overlooks along the river trail, expressing the history, ecology and spiritual traditions of the river.
FLOWtilla: The Spontaneous Decorated Boat Parade launches from the boat ramp at 1:30 and proceeds under the Free Bridge. There is also a Plein Aire Painting competition going throughout the day for visitors to observe.
Environmental organizations will have informational tables as well, so that visitors may learn about the work that is being done.
This year we are pleased to announce that Alex Nyerges, Director of the VMFA and his wife, Katherine are our jurors for the River Bank Plein Aire Painting Event, the Site Specific Environmental Sculpture, and the FLOWtilla Spontaneous Art Boat Parade.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and come join in the spirit of the day!
