Shakespeare by the Book: Four Centuries of Printing, Editing, and Publishing

Marking 400 years since Shakespeare’s death, this exhibition celebrates the vibrant, complex, and sometimes contentious history of bringing his works into print. From early editions to contemporary artists’ books, from massive folios to micro-miniature editions, the exhibition offers visitors a glimpse into the varied riches of the Library’s Shakespeare collections. The exhibition will be on display until December 31, 2016. From October 1-26, UVA will host a First Folio as the exhibition becomes the backdrop for the Folger Shakespeare Library’s First Folio!
