42nd Annual Kiwanis Independence Day 5K Race

On Friday morning, July 4, 2025, the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville, with the help of the Charlottesville Track Club, and with major support from Better Living Inc. will present the 42nd Annual Independence Day 5K Run/Walk. The start/finish line will be at Lakeside Middle School (2801 Powell Creek Dr., 22911), and the course will go through Forest Lakes North and South. Proceeds this year will benefit three amazing local children's charities: Central Little League, Salvation Army Camp Rappahannock, and Charlottesville Community Bikes.

Some of the area's fastest 5K times are recorded at this race, which starts at 7:30 a.m. The event is expected to attract more than 200 runners and walkers of all ages. Packet pick up this year is at Lakeside Middle School on Thursday, July 3, 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on race day from 6:30 a.m. – 7:15 a.m.

The Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville has been serving the children of our community and the world for 103 years.
