We invite you to join us on Saturday, November 15, 4:30–6:30PM for a special screening of the short documentary film "A Tour of the Dunnington Mansion." A reception with exhibiting artist Zofie King, The Dunnington Mansion Foundation president Dr. Heather Beach, and the film’s award-winning director Kelley St. Germain will follow the screening, where wine and small bites will be served and guests will have the opportunity to meet and mingle and explore King’s solo exhibition "What Remains."

Produced by Appalachian Memory Keepers and directed by Kelley St. Germain, the approximately 45-minute film "A Tour of the Dunnington Mansion" explores the history and current state of Dunnington Mansion—also known as Poplar Hill—a once magnificent Victorian mansion located in Farmville, Virginia, that has been abandoned to the elements for more than two decades. In 2024, artist Zofie King toured and photographed the mansion, which in turn inspired several of the works included in her exhibition "What Remains," on view in the Dové Gallery through November 21, 2025.

The primary mission of The Dunnington Mansion Foundation is to preserve and promote the historical significance of Poplar Hill. Preservation of this history is accomplished through the Foundation’s website which currently houses the most extensive collection of information on Poplar Hill in existence. The goal is to create a timeless and comprehensive resource for those wanting to learn about this amazing property and the people who lived and worked there from 1740 to the present. They hope to one day acquire and rehabilitate the home into a multi-use event and education center.

This event is FREE for members of SSG / $10 non-members. Register to attend at https://www.secondstreetgallery.org/second-street-gallery/p/film-screening-and-reception-with-zofie-king-and-the-dmf
