In this highly participatory session, you’re invited to take part in a Braver Angels collegiate debate—a structured dialogue in which students and community members explore opposing views with respect, curiosity, and a spirit of shared learning. Together, participants debate a resolution connected to the 250th anniversary of America’s founding. No prior debate experience is necessary—just a willingness to listen, speak, and learn.
“Braver Angels” is a national citizens’ movement committed to bridging divides and strengthening democratic culture through thoughtful, informed dialogue. Its signature debates are not about winning arguments, but about understanding one another. Centered on a single resolution, these debates offer a carefully moderated format that encourages participants to think together, challenge assumptions, and build mutual respect across differences.
