Hosted by the Virginia Guide Service and the UVA History Club, Stories We Tell is a student speaker showcase celebrating the launch of UVA's first-ever Public History Week (April 6–11). Fourth-year History Distinguished Major student Rob Martin, third-year historian and Monticello interpreter Reuben Spencer, fourth-year History and Latin American Studies major Isabella Shealy, and first-year Architecture student Rebekah Langford will each present original research spanning a wide range of historical topics, from William Walker's 1855 filibuster in Nicaragua to architectural history in the American South. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply curious about the stories hiding in plain sight around Grounds, this is a unique opportunity to see student-driven public history in action.
