Violinist Stefan Jackiw, pianist Andrew Armstrong, and cellist Raphael Bell come together for a rare performance showcasing two monumental piano trios:
SHOSTAKOVICH’S PIANO TRIO NO. 2 IN E MINOR, OP. 67 (1944)
A haunting and emotionally-charged masterpiece written amid the turmoil of World War II — gripping, dramatic, and unforgettable.
DVOŘÁK’S PIANO TRIO NO. 4 IN E MINOR, OP. 90 “DUMKY”
One of the composer’s most beloved works, overflowing with lyrical beauty, folk-inspired rhythms, and irresistible energy.
Acclaimed violinist STEFAN JACKIW appears for the first time with the Festival. The Financial Times (London) called his performance "brilliantly skillful and selflessly musical," and the Boston Globe called him "one of the most insightful violinists of his generation."
Cellist RAPHAEL BELL adds his passionate playing and beautifully burnished sound, and pianist ANDREW ARMSTRONG brings his sensitive partnering and witty stage presence to the mix.
Whether you’re a devoted chamber music enthusiast or discovering these works for the first time, this free concert promises an evening of passion, virtuosity, and artistic brilliance. Bring friends, family, or simply yourself — all are welcome. No tickets or registration required.
