Dr. Nuné Melikian—renowned violinist and author—will give an exclusive preview of her upcoming performance with the Albemarle Symphony Orchestra, featuring Arno Babadjanian’s compelling Violin Concerto. During this pre-concert event, Dr. Melikian will discuss how Armenian identity, music, and Soviet cultural history intersect, and will introduce her new book, Arno Babadjanian: An Armenian Beat in Soviet Time.
We invite you to be part of this unique experience on March 27th at 11 AM, held at the UVA Chapel on the University of Virginia campus. This is a special opportunity to gain deeper insight into the featured concerto before the live performance and explore the cultural legacy of one of Armenia’s most influential composers.
Then, join us for the full concert on Saturday, March 28th at 3:30 PM in Grisham Hall at St. Anne’s Belfield School to hear this remarkable concerto, as well as works by Dvořák and Respighi. For complete concert details, visit www.albemarlesymphony.org.
This event is sponsored by the Albemarle Symphony Orchestra and the UVA Armenian Cultural Student Association.
