UVA History of Medicine Tour- Virginia Guide Service Public History Week

Join the Virginia Guide Service for a History of Medicine at UVA tour. History of medicine tours run approximately an hour and grapple with our University's complicated legacies of science, research, and medicine. Tourists learn about the lives of the first students on Grounds, the history of discrimination in the medical research field, and the progress that has led to our esteemed program today. Our tours explore over 200 years of change, resistance, and community that shape the present.

The tour will meet on the Lawn-side of the Rotunda and last about an hour.

The Virginia Guide Service is an independent, student-run nonprofit organization where students research the history of Charlottesville and the University, write their own tours, and share them with the public! This tour is part of a larger "Public History Week" event series lasting from April 6-11, a week of programming and tours dedicated to making local history accessible!
