Join the Virginia Guide Service for a historical tour of UVA’s Academical Village. The student-led tour covers the University’s history from its founding and construction through the Civil War, the Civil Rights era, and up to the present day. Our tours explore over 200 years of change, resistance, and community that shape the present.
The tour will meet on the Lawn-side of the Rotunda and last about an hour.
The Virginia Guide Service is an independent, student-run nonprofit organization where students research the history of Charlottesville and the University, write their own tours, and share them with the public! This tour is part of a larger "Public History Week" event series lasting from April 6-11, a week of programming and tours dedicated to making local history accessible!
