Charlottesville Area Transit
Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) provides bus service to the greater Charlottesville area. Riders enjoy safe, clean, and comfortable service Monday through Saturday, 6:15 am to 6:45 pm. Night service is provided on selected routes from 6:45 pm to 11:45 pm. CAT Free Trolley and Route 7 available on Sunday from 7:45 am to 5:15 pm. CAT offers the Free Trolley service connecting Downtown to the University of Virginia, and LINK service by advance registration in a limited area.
Cash fare is $.75 cents for a one-way trip. Day passes are available on CAT buses, and provide unlimited service on a single calendar day for $1.50.
CAT bus stops are marked with blue and green signs bearing the system's Blue Ridge Mountain and dogwood logo. Real-time arrival information is available at nearly 50 CAT bus stops equipped with red bus finders, on the CAT website (www.catchthecat.org) or by calling 434.244.5180. Free Rider’s Guides with CAT routes and schedules are available on any CAT bus and at the Downtown Transit Station (615 East Water Street).
CAT does not operate on certain holidays. In 2010, those days are: New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, the Sunday before Memorial Day as well as Memorial Day, Independence Day, the Sunday before Labor Day and Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
