New City Arts

New City Arts provides free and low-cost ways to see and experience art at Welcome Gallery and throughout the Charlottesville-area community.

Our low-commission exhibition space, Welcome Gallery, features work by Charlottesville-area artists through exhibitions, workshops, and events. Welcome Gallery is located at 114 3rd Street NE on Charlottesville’s downtown pedestrian mall and is accessible by public transit. Free, 2-hour, street parking is available on Market Street. New City Arts exhibitions at Welcome Gallery are free and open to the public.

Welcome Gallery supports artists who live in the Charlottesville area including the city of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Buckingham, and Orange. Located adjacent to our gallery is an artist studio that provides rent-free project space and financial support for two artists-in-residence annually.
