Not only that, you'll be helping to keep materials out of the waste stream! For appliqué patches, the instructor will provide a wide array of printed cottons with pictures of animals, flowers and plants, and more. If you'd rather bring your own patches, you can bring non-stretchy fabric that you'd like to use (quilting cottons work great!).

Please bring your own piece of clothing or other fabric item (bag, curtain, etc) to work on. Bring something that is made of a non-stretchy material; If you don't currently have a damaged item, you can either bring something of your own to practice on and add some embellishment, or the instructor can provide you with a piece of fabric for practice. We'll get a start on your project and, if it's something too extensive to finish during class time, send you home with the materials and know-how to complete it.

Instructor Ari (they/them) is an experienced mender who has spent countless hours fixing clothing and other fabric items for themself and their family, as well as for the members of Twin Oaks community, where about 90 people live.
