Join us for a reading with poets Devon Walker-Figueroa and Caleb Nolen. Devon Walker-Figueroa will be reading from her latest work, and Caleb Nolen will be reading from his debut poetry collection, Afterlight. This in-person event will be free and open to the public. We recommend arriving early for the best seating.
Devon Walker-Figueroa is from Kings Valley, Oregon, and is the author of Philomath (Milkweed Editions, 2021) and Lazarus Species (Milkweed Editions, 2025). A National Poetry Series winner, National Book Critics’ Circle finalist, and recipient of the Levis Reading Prize, Walker-Figueroa is an assistant professor of English at Virginia Commonwealth University’s MFA program. Individual poems may be found in The Nation, New York Review of Books, American Poetry Review, and elsewhere.
Caleb Nolen was born in Wisconsin and grew up in Pennsylvania and Maryland. His debut poetry collection, Afterlight, was selected by Jennifer Chang for the 2025 Agha Shahid Ali Prize in Poetry and will be published in June by the University of Utah Press. Nolen is an MFA graduate from the University of Virginia and has received support from Blue Mountain Center and Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, where he was a work-study scholar. Individual poems have appeared in 32 Poems, Bat City Review, Fence, The Georgia Review, and elsewhere. He lives with his wife in the Shenandoah Valley.
