Celebrate the 41st Annual James River Batteau Festival in historic Scottsville on Wednesday, June 24 from 3:00–7:30 PM at the James River Reeling & Rafting river camp, located at 200 Ferry Street.

This beloved community tradition welcomes the arrival of the historic batteaux as they travel down the James River through Central Virginia. Arrival times are dependent on river conditions, but the festival offers plenty to enjoy throughout the afternoon, including live music, historical presenters, local food vendors, regional beverages, and a lively riverside atmosphere.

Live music performances include Farm Use String Band from 3:00–5:00 PM and Valley Street Drifters from 5:30–7:30 PM. Guests can also enjoy food from Mr. Z’s BBQ and Sunrise Tostada, along with beverages from The Barn at 678 and James River Brewery. Local historic partners include Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, Scottsville Museum, Albemarle-Charlottesville Historical Society, and the Virginia Canals and Navigations Society.

The James River Batteau Festival is made possible through the generosity of local landowners and community partners. Visitors are encouraged to respect the property and help preserve this longstanding Scottsville tradition.

Admission is free and open to the public.
