Join us at Monticello this fall for a timely evening program exploring the state - and future - of the American press. At a pivotal moment for the nation, this conversation will consider the role of journalism in sustaining a free society and the challenges facing the press in 2026 and beyond. The evening will feature a conversation between award-winning journalist Judy Woodruff and New York Times columnist Jamelle Bouie, Monticello’s 2026-2027 Fritz and Claudine Kundrun Fellow. Drawing on Woodruff’s decades of reporting on American politics and public life, the discussion will examine the evolving media landscape, the meaning of press freedom today, and the responsibilities of journalism in a constitutional democracy.
