Historical Walking Tours

200 Second Street, NE, Charlottesville, VA 22902

(434) 296-1492

Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville boast an unusually rich and striking history. Men and women, both well-known and unknown, remarkable and ordinary helped build Charlottesville for over a period of 250 years. That local history has been preserved in the structures and monuments, which give Charlottesville its character. Join us on an Historic Walking Tour to learn about these men and women, the houses, storefronts, schools, places of worship, and public buildings in which they passed their lives, and view the cemeteries where they now rest. The Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society offers many walking tours around historic sites in the area. These tours include the Court Square Walking Tour and the Old Albemarle Jail Tour. Tours are offered from late April - late October and cost $5.00 per person. Visit for more information.
