In 1997, the Scheier Natural Area, a 100-acre parcel of land in Fluvanna County, Virginia, was donated to the Rivanna Conservation Society as a protected area for wildlife within the watershed. The Scheier Natural Area offers 8 ponds and over 3 miles of beautiful trails for hiking, enjoyment of nature, and environmental education. It is located 10 miles west of Palmyra and 20 miles southeast of Charlottesville. The Area is open free to the public from sunrise to sunset every day.
To protect the wildlife, water quality and serenity at Scheier, the following activities are PROHIBITED:
-- Dogs (disability service dogs allowed)
-- Motorized vehicles
-- Collecting, digging, cutting
-- Transporting and releasing wildlife to or from Scheier (state law!)
