The mild climate and rich soil of Charlottesville and Albemarle County allows for the growth of many, beautiful farms and orchards. People from all over are drawn to this area to spend a fun day picking their own fruit and gaining a better appreciation of what farm-to-table really means.

Area farms offer a chance to take in the scenic beauty of Albemarle County, while getting a first hand look at the inner workings of agriculture. Many of the farms sell their products directly on site. Others offer tours that take you around the property. Family-run orchards around Charlottesville invite people to make memories among rows of strawberries, peaches, nectarines, cherries, apples and pumpkins throughout the year. In addition to the sweetness of fresh-picked fruit, Albemarle County's orchards offer ciders, preserves, candied fruit and other farm-fresh treats.
