Virginia Distillery Company

At Virginia Distillery Company, everything we’re not makes us everything we are. We go against the grain for something superior to the norm. Something worth savoring. Something to be proud of. With an uncompromising attitude towards quality, we give rise to whisky that’s ours and ours alone. Born with ambition and defined by distinctions, it reflects the spirit of our founder, Dr. George G. Moore. A man who went against the grain to plant his passion in a new world, and blazed the trail for a better one. We carry George’s legacy forward by reinventing American Single Malt Whisky. Every barrel is a culmination of the world’s finest distilling, aged to perfection in the ideal climate of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. While inspired by time-honored traditions, we forge traditions of our own—making whisky more than what it has been, while remaining true to ourselves, our home, and our founder. The result: a whisky that George would’ve been proud of. Visit us in beautiful Nelson County, just 35 miles from Charlottesville, located amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains and not far from the breweries, wineries and cideries along Route 151. Situated on 100 acres in Lovingston, Virginia, The Virginia Whisky Experience aims to be a destination in Central Virginia. Stop by our Visitors Center and enjoy an array of specialty whisky cocktail samples, made with the Virginia Distillery Company’s Highland Malt and seasonal ingredients sourced from local Nelson County farmers. The Visitors Center is open daily from 11AM to 5PM, except for Sundays where we will be open from 1PM to 5PM. For groups of ten or more, please email whiskyexperience@vadistillery.com to inquire about booking an appointment. We do not accept tour buses or large groups without an appointment.
