Angelo Jewelry is pleased to exhibit the work of Fredericksburg & Cape Cod artist, Patte Ormsby.

"These paintings are memories: of night, and water and sacred places. Of younger days and warm summer nights. As millions of stars swirl in the sky we watch by the side of the sea."

Ormsby's paintings are informed by the lessons of art history from Medieval Altar pieces to Post Modernist Expressionism. They are driven by the cracked swirling nights of Albert Pinkham Ryder.

"My aim is to trap the mysterious, divine essence of this art, set it free in mine, and let it seep quietly into the hearts of my viewers."

With a degree in studio art and art history and a background in metal work and jewelry, Ormsby builds her paintings layer upon layer of metals, patinated oxidation, colorful sprayed pattern and oil. She attended Moravian University and learned glazed finishes and gilding from Michael Kramer of world renowned Gilders' Studio. Patte lives and works in Fredericksburg, VA and Wellfleet, MA.
