After enjoying some truly remarkable weather last weekend, a few changes are ahead for our first weekend of December in Charlottesville & Albemarle County. As we continue to march into the cooler winter months, our temperatures are taking a bit of a tumble, but certainly not to the point that it will prevent you from enjoying all the area has to offer. Charlottesville & Albemarle County continue to ensure your visit is a safe one, so be sure to bring your masks and adhere to social distancing for the safety of yourself and others! Now on to the forecast…

The weekend will start off on a bit of a damp note. Clouds will stream into the area on Friday with some showers developing later in the day. Plan to bring the umbrellas and wet weather gear if your plans bring you to the region on Friday. Saturday also looks to be quite soggy with showers likely from the morning into the afternoon. We may luck out and see a few peeks of sunshine late in the day, but overall, it will be wet and on the cooler side, with highs around 50 degrees.

Sunday’s weather looks much more accommodating for visitors wanting to enjoy the great outdoors. Ample amounts of sunshine will return to Charlottesville & Albemarle County and high temperatures will be right around the 50-degree mark – which is about where we would expect them to be in early December. With the full sunshine, Sunday will be very pleasant and perfect for some late-season hiking, enjoying one of our more than 35 wineries, or enjoying some outdoor dining (just remember to bring your jacket!).

The region is getting all decked out for the holidays and it’s looking beautiful! The holiday tree in the center of the historic pedestrian Downtown Mall will be shining brightly this weekend with its gorgeous lights and you can head over to the University of Virginia to see the historic Lawn area showing off its dazzling display. It’s also the perfect time to get in some holiday shopping at one of our area’s one-of-a-kind shops, perfect for finding those special gifts for family and friends.

Look for another weekend weather update next week. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
