Toast to 2026!

Toast 2026 with a visit to the Charlottesville and Albemarle County’s Monticello Wine Trail, and linger a little longer by extending your visit to include DC’s Wine Country®.

In Charlottesville and Albemarle County, the story of our wine dates back to the revolutionary days of Thomas Jefferson who dreamed of grape growing and winemaking at Monticello, his mountaintop estate. It wasn't until the 1970’s, however, that a new generation of winemakers discovered the best vines to grow in our region's terroir and began to fulfill Jefferson's vision of a destination dotted with wineries. Since then, our local winemakers have transformed the region into a premiere wine destination. We are excited to welcome you to a place with historic vines and new roots!

If you have a taste for more after visiting some of the more than 40 wineries along the Monticello Wine Trail, you can travel a mere two hours north to DC’s Wine Country®, an award-winning destination just 25 miles west of the nation’s capital. There you’ll find more than 50 local wineries and tasting rooms, with every experience inviting you to slow down and discover a place worth pouring over.

Use the interactive map below to plan your visit and enjoy Virginia Wine! For the full experience, plan to sip and stay at one of the Monticello Wine Trail’s many winery lodging options.
